SURPRISE, 15 MPH HIGH SIDE!

Kinja'd!!!

I'm surprised that no pipe, saddlebag, grip, clutch lever, or mirror was damaged. Only the front/rear crash bar, and a the floor board mounting bracket. Someone in Milwaukee did their geometry homework and protected all the important bits.

Oh, then there's this, and my swelling foot

Kinja'd!!!

Goddamnit. It was raining HARD, I was almost home, and I was making a right on red. I got on the throttle as the rear tire crossed over a metal joint and I accidentally high side. Me and Mrs McMike's 18 y/o cousin hit the deck. I'm grateful for two things. 1) She's ok. and 2) The car everyone else was in (including her mother) was far behind us.

Was it bad that the first thing I thought of was the sound of scraping metal and how much it was going to cost to fix it.?

Shit, Mike... Glad you're OK... Glad the bike is mostly OK.

Pick yourself up, dry yourself off, and start all over again.... ;-)

Thanks, I'm already dried off and ready to roll. I leave on a bike trip on Friday morning. I have tomorrow off, so I'll take a closer look at it. It was a first gear incident, not too fast.

I feel really guilty for tossing the cousin off a moving motorcycle.

In a way, it's good to have that kind of fall once in a while. Scars are useful for storytime later on in life and they will remind you that you can (and probably will) fall off once in a while.

Glad you're OK, also glad the bike didn't take too much damage, and wear your gear next time (yes, I know exactly how tempting it is to make that quick run to the corner store 5 min away)...
